Indore and Surat were jointly declared the cleanest cities in India under the Central government’s annual Swachh Survekshan Awards 2023, presented by President Droupadi Murmu at the Bharat Mandapam on Thursday (January 11).
When the Awards first began in 2016, Indore ranked at number 25. But now Indore ranked at number 1. Indore has been the cleanest city of the country from several years. But have you ever thought why? What is Indore like?
You must be surprised to know that Indore is the cleanest city. But you won’t get much garbage bin here. And it’s not like that there is not much waste in Indore. There are almost 2000 tons of waste per day in Indore. But the waste management system of the city is so good that most of the waste is decomposed or utilized.
For example, where most of the cities have 2 categories of waste, but there are 6 categories of waste in Indore. And after decomposing the waste, made bio -CNG which makes more than 150 buses to run in the city.
And after decomposing the waste in its treatment facility, made organic manure and earns crores of rupees. And obviously, the credit of such good waste management system of Indore goes to the municipal cooperation but also to the people there.
If you go to Indore, you will realize that the civic sense of the people there is very good. Indore is such a clean city that you won’t be able to throw garbage there. And in fact, Indore is very good at this.
